| Super Mario World is the first title in the Mario series for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, released in 1990. The game was produced by Shigeru Miyamoto, the soundtrack was composed by Koji Kondo, and Shigefumi Hino was in charge of the graphics. Unlike previous games in the series, Super Mario World is not set in the Mushroom Kingdom, but in the Dinosaur Land; it is also the first appearance of Yoshi, who would become the main and recurring sidekick of Mario and Luigi.

| Jacob, named Jakey in European and Australian versions, is a villager who first appears in Dōbutsu no Mori e+. He is a bird of the lazy personality. His Japanese catchphrase "chuuuuurp" is similar to Anchovy's. Jacob returns in Animal Crossing: New Leaf - welcome amiibo, where his added catchphrase "ya feel" is a complementary to Wade's "so it goes." Jacob originally appeared on the album cover for King K.K. before being replaced by Jay, another bird villager.
He shares the same birthday as Nan. Jacob's name could come from a jay bird, much like another villager named Jay, which connects to its species.
In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Jacob may be found reading a book pertaining to an item he is studying, which can be either flowers, bugs, fish, or fossils.

| Ash Ketchum is the main character of the anime Pokémon the Series. He has appeared in nearly episode prior to the beginning of Pokémon Horizons: The Series. Ash is the son of Delia Ketchum, who lives in Pallet Town, but little is known about Ash's father. His first partner Pokémon is a Pikachu.
On December 16, 2022, it was announced that Ash's journey would end in a finale that offered a glimpse into his future, before a new series without Ash in the lead role began in April 2023; the finale is called Pokémon: To Be a Pokémon Master, and it spans eleven episodes.

| Super Smash Bros. Melee is a fighting game released for the Nintendo GameCube in 2001 in Japan and North America, then the following year in Europe and Australia. It is the second game in the series. It is a crossover game featuring several Nintendo characters battling on several stages. Super Smash Bros. Melee adds various new modes, such as Adventure, Classic (a successor to the first game's 1P Game), and All-Star.

| Red Pikmin (Japanese: 赤ピクミン, Aka Pikumin) are a red species of Pikmin with the special abilities of fire resistance and strong attack power. They are the first Pikmin type seen or discovered in all games by the main playable captain, and are usually considered the "main" type of Pikmin due to their relatively simple traits and early discovery. They are cultivated via the Red Onion (or the Master Onion), and like Yellow Pikmin, Blue Pikmin and Bulbmin, their buds and flowers are white. These Pikmin are present in all games of the series, and make an appearance in all game modes.
